LEGO Minifigures Monsters

LEGO is releasing a set of Monster-themed minifigures in time for Halloween! They also have monster-themed sets under their Monster Fighters line. Here are the Series 14 minifigures:

Fly Monster

“Bzzz. Bzzz? Bzzz!”

Until very recently, the Fly Monster was a regular housefly. Now that he’s been mutated into a half-fly, half-Minifigure creature, he’s found himself a little bit confused. Part of the problem is that his mind is still pretty much that of a fly. The other part is that he doesn’t realize just how much larger he is than he used to be.

The Fly Monster is always running into windows, falling off ceilings, and getting stuck to pieces of tape. He’s also very afraid of spiders and flyswatters and flees at the sight of them, buzzing in insectoid terror. There is one good side to his new body, though: it’s a lot easier to get at all of that delicious rotting garbage now that he can lift off the trash-bin lids!

Why the Dudley Boyz Are My Favorite Tag Team

There have been plenty of great tag teams in professional wrestling over the years. The Road Warriors/Legion of Doom, The Hart Foundation, The Steiner Brothers, RVD and Sabu, The Outsiders, The Rock and Sock Connection... the list goes on! Picking just one to be the greatest of all time would be nearly impossible but I can easily name my favorite...

Buh Buh (Bubba) Ray and D-Von Dudley have been teaming together since 1997 and have held titles at nearly every major promotion across the globe. They incorporate a unique brand of violence into their matches and are infamous for putting people through tables. Not only are they the most decorated tag team in professional wrestling, I think they have one of the most interesting backstories as well. Before these two teamed together, Buh Buh Ray Dudley was part of an ECW stable known as The Dudley Family

The story goes that "Big Daddy" Dudley traveled across America as a salesman in the 60's and 70's, fathering children wherever he went. Despite obvious differences in their physical appearance and race, the illegitimate sons formed a stable that wore tie dye attire and taped glasses. Buh Buh Ray Dudley debuted as a stuttering, overweight hillbilly that dances and was used to comedic effect. When D-Von debuted, he was a heel that despised his family because he believed that "true Dudleys" should not act like comedians. Following a heel-turn, Buh Buh Ray Dudley joined forces with D-Von and formed The Dudley Boyz. The duo would go on to capture the ECW World Tag Team Championships a total of 8 times before moving on to the WWF.

Finishing Move: 3-D

The Dudley Death Drop is one of the devastating and memorable finishers in professional wrestling. The first time I ever saw a cutter used was by Diamond Dallas Page, who was finishing people with the Diamond Cutter in WCW. He could hit that Diamond Cutter from anywhere (much like Randy Orton's RKO now) and it was almost guaranteed to end the match. Fast forward a few years and "Stone Cold' Steve Austin was giving everybody Stone Cold Stunners. The stunner was just a variation of a cutter but it was taking out all the top stars in the WWF.

So now that we've already established how powerful a cutter is on its own, imagine that D-Von lifts you up into the air and flapjacks you into a cutter. The Dudley Boyz are also known for hitting the 3D out of nowhere, much like DDP's Diamond Cutter or Randy Orton's RKO. As if that wasn't devastating enough, they often use that move to put people through a table. Outside of the wrestling world, that would most certainly kill a man.

Most Decorated:

I already briefly mentioned how decorated a tag team The Dudley Boyz are but here is a laundry list of their accomplishments:

8 time ECW World Tag Team Champions
6 time WWF World Tag Team Champions
2 time World Tag Team Champions (formerly WWF World Tag Team Championship)
1 time WWE Tag Team Champions
1 time WCW World Tag Team Champions (final, won in WWF)
2 time IWGP World Tag Team Champions (New Japan Pro Wrestling)
1 time NWA World Tag Team Champions
2 time TNA World Tag Team Champions
1 time Hustle Super Tag Team Champions (final)
1 time 2CW Tag Team Champions

Tournaments & Accomplishments

World's Strongest Tag Determination League (All Japan Pro Wrestling)
TNA Tag Team Tournament (2013)
TNA Hall of Fame (2014)

They also had one of the best managers of all time

Stacy Keibler, The Duchess of Dudleyville, is one of the most beautiful women ever to set foot in a wrestling ring. Their relationship came to an abrupt end when she accidentally cost them a match and was subsequently powerbombed through a table. Now let me set one thing straight, I do not condone violence against women in real life. In the world of professional wrestling though, the women are supposed to be as tough as men and to treat them any differently would be sexist. This is still rarely ever seen but The Dudley Boyz had a reputation for breaking women's necks by putting them through tables.

They are the embodiment of extreme wrestling as they've used everything from thumbtacks to cheese graters to flaming tables in their matches. They innovated the Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match alongside The Hardy Boyz and Edge & Christian in the WWF. These guys are legends that deserve their place in history among the greatest tag teams to have ever existed. And from what I understand, they made a surprise return on RAW.

Welcome back Dudley Boyz!
