AJ Styles vs. Lionheart update!

Looks like the match has been set for Dec. 6 between AJ Styles and Lionheart at Preston City Wrestling, an indy promotion based in the UK. I think it'll be interesting to see AJ Styles defend his title against another Champion. Not to take anything away from the wrestlers that he's faced already, but he should've been facing top guys if he's going to jump from one promotion to the next. I think it would be really interesting if he was collecting title belts from different promotions too. He could come out looking like Ultimo Dragon did back in the day.
Like a total bad ass

In other news, it seems Vader will be at the event as well. Looks like he'll be wrestling in addition to signing autographs. The last time I saw Vader on TV, he was way out of shape and I assumed he had retired. I would like to see this event!

Clips from AJ Styles vs. Sanada Seiya match in Japan at Wrestle-1

As you know, TNA has been doing a ton of cross promotion lately with AJ Styles, the current TNA World Heavyweight Champion, touring different promotions around the world. Most recently on Nov. 16, Styles defended his title in Japan at the Wrestle-1 promotion (supposedly during an earthquake). Here are some clips from that show:

AJ was successful in his title defense in Japan but was immediately called out on Twitter by Lionheart, a champion from the Scottish wrestling promotion Pro Wrestling Elite. This war of words most likely sets up AJ's next match, which will be his first match against another champion! How interesting...

TNA Cross Promotion

I'm a big time wrestling fan and I've always been a sucker for a good crossover. Whether it's in the comics, movies, or even professional sports. There have been rumors floating around online that TNA might be looking to sell the company due to poor ticket sales and failure to turn a profit. In the middle of all this, TNA is running a storyline similar to the one WWE did with CM Punk a couple years back.

AJ Styles, one of TNA's top stars whose contract was expiring, captured the TNA World Heavyweight Championship title and threatened to leave with it. The biggest difference with story this time is that AJ Styles is actually defending his title in different promotions around the world.

Starting in Mexico, Styles successfully defended his title against Judas Mesias on Nov. 3 at the AAA Lucha Libre promotion. This wasn't so much a hostile "invasion" as it seems Styles might've been a face during his appearance. Mesias was attacked by Konnan, Hijo del Fantasma, and Texano Jr. after the match was over, prompting Styles to make the save.

This was something that WWE just wasn't willing to do with CM Punk in their angle and hasn't been done in pro wrestling in years. I personally feel that this is how a champion should earn the prestige of calling his belt a "World" title. How can you call yourself a World Champion if you haven't defended the belt against top stars in different parts of the world?

After retaining his title in Mexico, Styles is headed to Japan next to defend his title against this man:

Seiya Sanada

Styles will be defending against Seiya Sanada on Nov. 16 in The Great Muta's promotion, Wrestle-1. Sanada previously worked in All Japan Pro Wrestling, where he first gained prominence as a tag team wrestler before becoming a singles competitor. Sanada is a strange choice for an opponent since he just signed with Wrestle-1 as recently as last month and lost his debut match in the promotion. I'm assuming Styles will retain his title against, leaving him with back-to-back losses.

Meanwhile, TNA is currently holding an 8-man tournament to crown a new (interim) Heavyweight Champion. All eyes are on the winner as it is believed Styles will return after having defend his belt in multiple promotions to unify the TNA World Heavyweight Championship.

So far, Jeff Hardy has defeated Chris Sabin to advance to the next round of the tournament. The next match announced is a Submission match between Kurt Angle and Austin Aries. While TNA is promoting their Heavyweight division, Bully Ray made a surprise appearance at House of Hardcore that sparked yet another headline.

Tommy Dreamer founded the promotion, House of Hardcore, in the spirit of ECW. They've only had 3 shows to date but Bully Ray made a surprise appearance at their third show on Nov. 9. Ray issued a challenge to Dreamer for a Falls Count Anywhere match at TNA's One Night Only: Old School pay-per-view event scheduled for Dec 30.

Just as rumors of a potential buyer for TNA begins circulating, the company starts doing some really interesting things with their talent and storylines. Could this be too little too late for the company?

Rambo: The Video Game

So there's an officially licensed Rambo game coming out for PC, Xbox 360, and PS3. I have to say, I'm excited. Let's be honest, who doesn't think they're Rambo when they're playing first-person shooters? Now you can go full Rambo AS Rambo. I don't expect this to step FPS game to the next level, but I just hope it's as fun as it looks in this trailer

X-Men: Days of Future Past Trailer

The trailer for X-Men: Days of Future Past has been out for almost a week and it looks totally AWESOME! The original story from the comics had Kitty Pryde transferring her mind into her younger self to warn the X-Men about an assassination that sparks an anti-mutant movement, which sees mutants put into concentration camps and many of the X-Men exterminated.

In the trailer, Wolverine is sent back in time instead and has to warn a younger Professor X about the incident that will lead them to a horrific future. What's got me all excited is that this crosses the original X-Men story with the one from X-Men: First Class. Like the comics, you've got a merging of alternate universes but this is so much cooler with real actors! The future USA is supposed to be ruled by Sentinels in the comics. I know all the fans have been waiting to see Sentinels in the movies since the original X-Men movies, so I hope this doesn't disappoint. Even though I would like to see Sentinels myself, the crossover of the characters and storyline is enough to get me super excited for this one.

X-Men: Days of Future Past is slated for release on May 23, 2014.

WWE 2K14

I'm really not big on new video games because of this whole idea that you have to pay $60 for the game itself and then buy all this downloadable content later. Forget all that, I'll just save my money in case they release a complete edition later on with all the DLC.

This is the first game to be released by 2K Sports after THQ filed bankruptcy, but I don't want to speculate how that will affect gamplay because you never really know until you've played it. With that said, I will admit that the roster does have me interested. I don't care for multiple versions of Undertaker or HHH, but it is kinda cool to see Ultimate Warrior and "Macho Man" Randy Savage in the game.

I have to be honest though, the ENTIRE reason I have any interest in the game is because of the nWo. I believe the last time they appeared in a game was WWE Smackdown! Shut Your Mouth. I see "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, X-pac, The Giant, Curt Hennig, "Madness" Macho Man, and "Big Poppa Pump" Scott Steiner! This is the biggest nWo roster I've seen since the WCW days and the first time Scott Hall's been in a WWE game in a LONG time.

My only complaint is Kevin Nash's powerbomb will probably look like this:

Which looks unchanged since Shut Your Mouth. I think Nash's powerbomb should look more relaxed like he's doing it with ease. Just picks people up high and releases them. Check out this tribute video to his Jackknife Powerbomb:

Even in the old WWF clips, he doesn't pick them all the way up into a vertical sitting position on his shoulders, he just releases them and lets them drop. I know that's just a minor complaint, I think people have complaints about current wrestlers not being on the roster. Multiple versions of Undertaker and HHH is unnecessary, I would've liked to see new wrestlers in place of those, but I do think it's awesome to have all these legends that haven't been in the games for awhile.

Here is the full roster for 2K14:

Anyone who has the game, let me know how it is in the comments!

A Warrior's Dream - Donnie Yen vs. Bruce Lee

This was a totally sweet short that I happened across while browsing the net. A lot of the information about this video is in Chinese and I can't read most of it, so feel free to leave comments if anyone can shed some light on the people the who made it. As for the video itself, I thought it was a totally awesome tribute to both stars and did a really fantastic job of mimicking their movements. I thought the end was pretty touching as well. Highly recommended for fans of Donnie Yen, Bruce Lee, and/or martial arts films!
